Oh yes, thanks for all the cheers for Dad. I'd tell you what he said in response but so far all I can get out of him is "SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRE!" He'll wake up around noon. I'll tell him then. :)

Work was bleah. Nothing really happening. I got all the maintenance done before 0400 hours. Had maybe three patients. Whee. :S Thank God I had my holiday cards with me so I could address them and get them ready to mail. I just need to print up some return address labels, put stamps on them and stick 'em in the mail. :)

I just put in a bid for a holiday gift for myself: American Brutus by Michael W. Kauffman. It's a biography of John Wilkes Booth. Were you aware that there are people who believe that J. W. Booth didn't die in Virginia after being hunted down by the NY Calvary? Good grief. Conspiracy theorists are everywhere. I watched a program last weekend about Booth that was very interesting. The author of this book was on the show. I have always been interested in the Civil War (it's a weird family thing) and, in 2001, when on a tour of Mammoth Cave, KY, I got to see Booth's Amphitheater. It was actually named for Edwin Booth, one of JW's older brothers. After the assassination, Edwin and the rest of the family sort of went into hiding. During that time, Edwin would recite soliloquies from Shakespeare in the naturally formed amphitheater to amuse patrons of the caverns. If I don't win the book on eBay, maybe I can brave the horrors of a shopping center to purchase it sometime.

Well, time to crochet... but first I need a shower to warm up. I'm freezing.

Yesterday, I went to meet with an insurance agent. Changed over my car insurance. This will save me a little over $300 per year. Nice.

Then drove to my doctor's appointment. I weighed in at 263 (from around 300 in Jan/08) fully clothed. Having a bad irritable bowel syndrome flare up. Got some meds. Hoping it helps. (Only taken a few doses... not enough to really do much yet.)

Last night, while driving to work... sigh. OK. I go about 3 miles to an intersection. Through the four way (sounds kinky for some reason) and over a hill... by the time I reach the second hilltop, it is snowing. And I mean, blizzard-like conditions snowing. It was like... well, remember light-speed in "Star Wars"? Just like that... but slick as dogshit. Took me about 45 minutes to get to work - I can usually make it in 25. But, I made it. The Equinox, with its fabulous all wheel drive, was wonderful. Just a little tug to one side or the other on a rare occasion. That's it. OMG. How did I ever live without that car??

Believe it or not, we DID have patients. Sadly, several were serious. We kept quite a few of them. I addressed and wrote out some holiday cards. (I will hand deliver yours, [info]catzaryna.) Nothing else really happening.

I wrote up my Holiday Wishes post and sent it in for the mods to review.

I will admit that I'm not one for big holiday displays. However, for the person who hung a three foot Santa on the wall, Dude, it looks like you crucified Santa Claus. That's sick. I know you probably don't mean for him to look that way - or if you do, that's just wrong - take him down! Mind you, I find amusement at your fail but school buses go past your house and you're traumatizing the kindergartners!

Time to crochet.
